Hump Day Love: Nutshell Cafe

You may or may not know that I (Krystal) am Portuguese and luckily, Jason has become very fond of the food of my heritage, but its not always easy to find exceptional Portuguese food.  The Nutshell Cafe in Hartford surpasses not only every Portuguese restaurant, but most restaurants.  We’re long time customers and what we love the most about it is that it’s reliable.  Their menu is consistent and spruced up with daily specials.  Their wine list is plentiful and dessert menu is always sure to please.  We are always guaranteed excellent food and good service.  We have never once been there and not been happy with our meal.  In fact, we love it so much that we’ve called on them to cater parties and even in large quantities, we can count of the food to be fantastic.

The dining room is intimate.  If you’re going at a busy time of year like the Holiday season when there will be lots of parties, get there early to ensure you’ll get a table.  But, sitting in the bar is just as good of an option as well.  My only wish about this place is that the dining room was bigger or that there was a banquet space so that we could hold large parties there.  They do allow you to rent out the dining room, but our parties have been too big to fit, which is why we’ve catered out.  However, it would be great to be able to have a party right there.

Also, be prepared that parking is tight so you may have to park on the street.  Not to worry though, you’ll want that short walk to your car after filling yourself up with yummy food.

Yumm!!! Just looking at these photos makes me want to go back!
